Why photography editions are attracting new bidders.

Photography editions are the entry point for a generation of new collectors — lower prices, rigorous standards, and images that live comfortably in modern homes.

Edition discipline protects value

A closed edition of 12 or 15, printed by the artist and never reopened, behaves like any scarce asset. Ask for the edition size, how many remain with the artist, and whether larger sizes exist — scale changes everything.

Print quality is the connoisseurship

Silver gelatin, pigment, platinum: the process shapes both the look and the longevity. Artist-printed works command premiums over lab prints, and our catalogue notes distinguish the two on every lot.

“Buy the best print of an image you love, in the smallest edition you can afford.”

Where new bidders should start

Mid-career photographers with institutional placements and editions under $6,000 offer the strongest balance of enjoyment and security. Our August photography sale opens with 86 such lots.
