About Matteo.
Matteo Cruz casts bronze portraits reduced to essential planes — faces caught between likeness and architecture. Trained in Florence and now based in Lisbon, he casts, patinates, and finishes every edition in his own foundry.
Cruz joined Bidhaven in 2022 after his sell-out garden-room presentation. His editions of six consistently clear estimates, and his public commissions stand in two European sculpture parks.
APPROACH
Each edition is modelled in clay, cast in bronze, and patinated by hand. Cruz destroys every mould after casting, so no edition can ever be extended.
